Has anyone ever used apricot wood as firewood?

I have about half a cord seasoning right now and was wondering if it was a good burning wood with a high heat content?

Never burned it that I know of. But all prunus wood is awesome burning.

It's heavy, isn't it. Wood weight directly correlates to BTU per cord. The heavier the wood, the higher the BTU per cord, or per any unit of measure. I think dry fruit woods generally weigh 55-60 pounds per cubic foot, compared to oak at 65 or so. That's good!

It is very heavy and difficult to split. Much harder than fresh cut locust-IMO. My neighbor needed three trees cut down , so i jumped on it. It was truely a workout for the MS 250. I got a bigger saw now. Wish I had it then. My neighbor bought me a gift card to take my family to dinner for the work. I made out good and helped a neighbor.

never burned it, but, when i was very little, my grandparents had several apricot trees. we would remove the pits from them and dry them out in the sun on a large screen for several days. after they were dried, we'd sit there with nut crackers and eat the almond-like nut in the center. loved theose things. she canned the fruit.

these days "they" say they're supposedly poisonous and you should not eat them. he died at 85 and she died in her late 90's.

i still love apricots to this day.

Someone that smokes meat would want the wood. Just gave my friend's boy some crabapple, about a half a p/u load. He really liked the flavor imparted in the pork. Also gave him some pear and mulberry to try.
Those fruitwoods are too scarce around here to burn as firewood.

I burned close to cord last winter and was happy with it. I have some left over that I've been BBQing with. I have access to an old orchard but it's 80 miles away.
