hi,What are the Arbor master training videos like?,The one im really interested in is the art of rigging.I have been trained in basic using pulleys & flying capstan aswell as natural crotch`s & use of topping down strops.
The big questions is are they worth the money.

I thought they were pretty good. But, I'd never been trained in rigging before so it was really interesting to me. There's no substitute for hands-on training, but as far as videos go, with the accompanying book--Yeah, it was a good introduction.

I don't know what they cost, but if you were going to use them as part of an employee training program and you could get them for $200-300 then I'd say they're worth it.

I've attended one of thier courses and I thought it was very good. I would certainly take more, including the rigging, given the chance.

Cheers,
BAB

you can rent the whole set from WESPER for 35.00 for 3 weeks. they get a deposit till you send them back but its alot cheaper than buying them.

i saw one episode (#5 i think) of the art of rigging and was not too impressed. i wont say dont watch them, but take em with a grain of salt - their approach is not for everybody.

Arbor master does have some rigging how to's that many climbers can benefit from. But I've had an enthusiastic arbormaster 'zealot' on a couple of jobs, and I really thought it was an excuse to use 200' of rope where 100' would've done it. Still, it is a great information bank for new climbers needing to know rigging.

Thanks for the replies,AS i stated i only want to get them to have a look at other rigging methods.
I will have to buy the from new over here on VHS format.
Thanks again.

A detail worth noting.

The Art and Science of Practical Rigging is an ISA product not an Arbormaster product.

Pete Donzelli wrote the original script for the series. There were close to fifteen of us who spent a week in Atlanta filming 95% of the series. The last bit was taken care of later in Champaign. About ten seconds of what I shot of Sean Gere's cutting made it into the final product :)

Setting aside any bias, ASPr'N is the best tree training series made.
