Ascender Question

I have a foot ascender and i was just wondering if constant use will damage my 1/2 inch arbormaster or 1/2 inch spearmint?

No more damage than dragging it through trees, hanging on it, getting it dirty, or nicking it with a chainsaw.

I've been using a Pantin for a while now and have not noticed any particular damage to the Yale XTC. Like newsawtooth said there are other ways we use ropes that will causes just as much if not more damage.
