I have a 12in a@#plungger chipper and it wont feed, I have adjusted the knives and the cutter bar, to the factory specs. and it still wont feed. Does anyone have any ideals or suggestons? I checked the knives and they could stand to be sharpened but arent really dull. I am new to this type of chipper, so at this point iam lost.
Thanks:confused:

send the knives to be sharpened by a knife sharpening machine. If they were not sharpened by the correct machine last time the cutting surface might be beveled. In that case, the knife will be sharp but will not feed properly. I ran into that problem before.

Sometimes you can get trash in the roller tracks, and they won't close up tight enough for small stuff to be pulled in. On the same note, they can also stop up and not open up far enough either.

Thanks guys, I checked for trash every where I can reach or see, and got it all cleaned out, Iam inclined to think that the blades may have been sharpened wrong. I guess I will pull them off tomorrow and take them to "the man", he does all my sharpening and has always done a god job. He isnt the guy that did these blades before, but I bet he can fix it.
If anyone else has any other ideals what could be wrong please chime in here, I really need to get this chipper running, Iam tired of hauling brush on the trailer!!

Sharpening angle

My manual says that smooth knifes should be sharpened to 40 degree angle and the serrated ones to 36 degrees depending on the ones you have.

I'll emphasize again, DO NOT have someone sharpen them with a grinder like its a lawn mower blade. Chipper knives must be sharpened on a machine that cuts the whole cutting surface down to a precision angle and cuts the knives so that they are even with each other.

you gotta pull off the spring that have tension on the rollers, and spread them and clean out the track too.

I checked that the knives werent in backwards, twice, I am going to check that my sharpening guy has the right machine and if he doesnt I am going to send them off. I wanted to get them pulled off today, but I had to do an oak removal, so I didnt have time.
Thanks for all the help guys, I will post the results when I get it running,
FYI- the serial number has 3 6s in a row, makes you wonder:angry2:
thanks again
