I'd like to trade or sell my McCulloch 805. It's a rough one. I'd trade it for a Husqvarna 162SE, Pioneer "Farmlite", or Pioneer "P38", in whatever condition, or I'll consider selling it for $50 plus shipping.
* The clutch cover and rear cylinder cover shroud are broken. Muffler is rusted out. Engine will not turn.
* The cushion on the full wrap handle is gnawed up and handle has some dings, but I don't see any cracks or welds on it... should be a good useable top handle. Top cover, tank, rear handle, bottom skid plate, recoil starter assembly, trigger group, carburetor, oil tank cover, and clutch, all appear fine. I'm guessing the short block should probably be good, same goes for the ignition coil and flywheel.
Private message me with correspondence if you have a trade, or want to buy it outright.

I pulled the recoil starter off and found that the flywheel turns freely about 1/2" either way, then as you turn it feels like it gradually presses against "spring" tension. Not a solid metallic dead stop... but a cushiony stop.
Maybe there is a ring pooched into the port hanging up. Or maybe something with the auto oiler worm gear assembly. I don't believe this saw has any kind of reed valves or anything. Just does not feel like a crankshaft or rod issue. I could be wrong, just guessing.

Real curious to know what's going on in there. No worm gear oiler in these. The oiler runs on impulse. Have you pulled the plug? They kinda feel like that with the compression when turning the flywheel. No joke if healthy

I pulled the plug, and piston is near TDC.
From what I see, the top of the piston has minimal black carbon on top, but looks normal.
Cylinder looks unremarkable, but I can't see a whole lot of it. Maybe a bit of cross hatch pattern.
Spark plug looked okay.
Wish I had time to mess with it... I'd like to pull the muffler and have a look !!

Yeah wonder what it is.

Surprised someone here hasn't grabbed it though
Yes. At the cost of full wrap handles, tank/handle assemblies, rear strap/bottom skid plate, top covers, etc. I thought someone would want to trade or something. Maybe there are not a whole lot of old Pioneer's or old Husky 162SE saws laying around in disrepair. Or maybe people just want to keep them around for future projects.
