Line clearance companies job is to maintain a clear area around power wires. Nothing to do with the tree itself just the power wires.
A few years ago the ISA gave Davey Tree the "award for excellence"
a big event. The award was given for "outstanding contrabutions to the field of aboriculture"
It was pretty sad in my opinion. I guess you can buy whatever award you want with enough $.
but the ISA is the only show around with a recognizable certification promoting proper tree care so I am still "on board"

I'm assuming that you are unaware that Davey does have commercial/residential divisions aside from the utility divisions.
In my area Davey is the largest tree care company and also the strongest proponent of proper tree care. Davey sponsors annual jamborees and other arboriculture events.

Many many fine arborists have had their start at Davey or worked for Davey at some point.

As it's already been pointed out in this discussion, in any large company there is going to be variance in quality of work and technique from area to area. Why not start your own continent-wide tree care service and run it like a Hollywood arborist service and then they'll give you the award.

Sure I agree with you I in fact have met many real good climbers from Davey. the Davey that is residential.
And I have heard your words repeated from these very same folks.
But Davey continues to have a HUGE division that hacks the hell out of trees. You can go down just about any city in any town in America and see the results of this HACKING.
For this reason Davey needs alot of work before IMO it is deserving of any across the board Award for Excellence. You cannot have the leaders of one division professing a lack of responsibilty for the actions of the other division. It does not make any sense at all.
It is kinda like a serial killer who did'nt kill today, Do you give him a medal?
Or in other words
How can you say the left hand is not responsible for the right hands actions?
Dont you understand this hyp? And if you do why do you support the current set-up?
