I have as old asplundh chipper model jey that I just purchased and cannot get the thing to even turn over. The battery is charged, put power directly to the starter and that works. Replaced the keyswitch, solenoid, and another part that sits below the resistor. I tried bypassing the solenoid but that didn't work. I have power on the battery post of the solenoid. I've rechecked all of the wiring too many times to count. Any suggestions?

starting problem

hi
so your saying if you bypass and go right to the starter it will turn over. there ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH ONE OF THE COMPONENTS OR THE WIRE ROUTING. are you using a key type start or a power switch and a seperate start switch? do you have a manual you are going by? theres not alot to these things. the first place i would start is when you try to start it whether key/seperate switch check for power foing to solenoid. if no power check to see if power coming to on/off switch. let me know what your using i have a power switch and a start switch. i can look at mine and try and tell you how mine route.
