asplundt chipper

I have a question about a chipper I inherited. Its a asplundd 4cyl 2.3 ford with a 12 inch drum. The chipper trailer is dated 12/88. I got a manual recently which descirbes it pretty well except the manual shows a removable floor plate and mine has a welded in one which has broken its welds. is this a mod or were they build this way. Can I just weld it back? Dave

Take it to an asplundt dealer to find out. I bought my chipper used and thought everything was fine until something broke. Took the chipper to the dealer and they described welds that weren't supposed to be there and replaced everything factory spec. Runs great to this day.
