I went to a consignment auction today after looking on the sale bill and seeing several chainsaws. I was looking at an ancient Mac, but it sold for like 400 bucks. So I spied a Poulan 3000 that I was interested in for a play toy. Bid ran up to 30, then I shied off. Went up to 50, and somehow the auctioneer thought I bid 50, and said sold! I was like wtf? I told him I stopped at 30, and the guy that was behinf me bidding backed out, so he said "How bout 50 bucks and I throw in these other 2 saws?" I looked at the other 2 saws which were twin older 020 AV's. I bought all 3 for 50. Got them home, didnt do crap but put mix in em and clean air filters, they all run. The poulan runs awesome, but leaks a little bit of bar oil, and is in dire need of a chain sharpening. The 020's run, 1 needs some carb work, and a good cleaning. The other runs too, but needs a carb kit at least.(Both had rotten gas in them) So I felt like I didnt get a bad deal. The 020's were top handled saws. Any of you find any good deals on auctions?

Im gonna see how crazy of a muffler mod and port job I can do to this poulan, thats why I bought it....:hmm3grin2orange:

I will post some pics on the morning. Dale Jr better run well and finish. His season isnt starting out very well.:censored:

The twin 020T saws intrigue me as the have the older sawtooth logo as opposed to the newer stihl logo. I am dumbfounded as to how I acquired these saws. But, I'll take em.

I was looking at a sale bill today for a sale that is comming up next weekend, there is a section for county "overstock" items and one of them said Husqvarna chainsaw. So I called the shop manager at the county and asked him what model it was....he said "16" Husky".......um...I asked him if he knew what the model number of the saw was and he dunno....I guess I'll see it next Saturday.

The sale bill on this auction didnt list any stihls. I went looking for a drill press and a few other things. I really dont know why I bid on that 3000 poulan, just seemed like a fun toy to experiment with or sell. The 020's Im interested in, I would like to get both in running order and/or sell. I really dont have a use for them, but they are cute.

I was trying to figure out whether this is a chrome cylinder after a person asked. I dont know if these pics can tell anything or not.

The inside of the cylinder is shiny as glass. The oil is leaking from the oiler nozzle where it goes into the bar, I think I need to adjust the oil pump. There do not appear to be any leaks or cracks. The saw is in pretty good shape in my opinion.

When I compare the cylinder on my project 028 and parts 041, the poulan cylinder is much shinier, like a mirror. The 028 was just running last week, so I believe the poulan has a chrome cylinder.

The oil leak is where the nozzle flows oil into the bar, when the saw runs, it drips off of the bar, it doesnt stop flowing oil when the chain stops. I was going to see if I could adjust the oil pump. The case is not leaking, its coming from the delivery hole.

Here is where the oil is coming from. The hole between the bar studs. Looks like there is a jet screwed in there.

That's more good news . You said this saw runs good , how's the compression when you hold it up by the starter rope , does it slowly unwind or does it drop moderatly ?
