A warning to anyone repairing small engines - please don’t make this mistake I did. The consequences can be horrific.

I have done the no drum thing once, scary- or had clutches spin off and go shooting off 100mph or blow to pieces on their way out - now always start a new build with the chain brake on - give it a few revs and hit the chain brake back on - go and cut some wood for a fine tune- i may not be right but thats how i do it.

A little while back I was working on a 38cc McCulloch, I had installed a different coil, and was rebuilding the carb and wanted to check for a good spark. I poured some gas straight into the intake manifold because the carb was on the bench and tried it. It was a good thing I had my thumb on the kill switch because it immediately started and started revving for the stratosphere haha. Got it shut down in time. I had the clutch on but no chain.
