Okay so i just got back from the gulf and im gonna try to leave out some of the details from this debacle for the sake of time of the readers.

No motel-nothing new.

Illegals doing jobs for $25-never seen it that bad.

Having to bid for 3 days before getting a full days work at 10%-25% below national standard pricing-never had that happen either. i normally land 70% of people i talk to...

having 50 fire ant bites on one leg-SUCKS, so did the helicopter mosquitos, and being chased 20' by a water mocassin.

making only 1k profit in 6 days total without talking to anyone without a $100k home-sickening. i lost more work at home than i made.

losing your wallet on the way home-priceless.

being pulled over without a liscense and being searched for an hour at the texas border-the straw that broke the camels back.

i will never go to texas again. when i go to louisiana, ill go through oklahoma and arkansas lol.

now dont get me wrong. there was one good thing. while the city folks were theives and snobs, the country folks where happy to see us and welcomed us like none other.

i coulda stayed and went deeper into the gulf to find more damage, but i normally sell atleast $5k a day and i dont see that happening for anyone but a select few. the illegals really killed the market down there.

see thats what i mean. some people where so happy to see us. there were homemade signs everywhere we went saying god bless the bucket men and what not. these people kept me from buying one drink when i took the guys to a bar one night for a couple of rounds one night. they also put us up in their homes our first night.....

others wouldnt pi$$ on us if we were on fire lol.

i was even going to spend a day in poor neighborhoods doing jobs for $20 dollars just to help people that needed it. but after everything else that happened i figured it was time to go. another day and we might not have made it back lol.

i put some people up, and gave out some tents for others.....

i had no damage and didnt need anything. i dont mind helping those who help us!

i know. i spent katrina as a cop. running supplies in my usmc 2.5ton truck. on MY dollar and MY time.

again, thanks for the effort. dont forget the bad, but please try next time. the silent majority appreciates you.

We're not all bad man. Treeslayer is staying in my spare room. I'm helping Fireman out as much as I can. I do agree though about the snobs and such. Of course I'm from Ohio originally anyways so that probably means alot also.

The illegals jumped on that deal like a fire ant on a cheeto. If anybody wants to make money doing storm clean up the Texas Gulf Coast has got to be tough.

Sorry to hear of your bad expierience climbing arbor. Win some lose some I guess. Its good news to me that it sucks down there because I know this total dirtbag thats headed that way, I hope he loses his a$$. But it wont really matter sinse he's all funded with drug money anyway. My week sucks, I woke up with what feels like a sprained ankle - and it was fine yesterday! Now its gonna rain the next two day at least. Looks like I'll be around here alot. At least I've got my crackhead woodsplitter "darkman" working away out behind the shop. 10 bucks an hour, he works for about 7 hours on a good day and does about 2 real cords, 70 bucks + fuel for splitter. Wood is at 250 a cord here now so its not a bad deal really. Too bad for him whatever he gets paid he just smokes right up. But he tries to stay off that crap he just cant do it, what a shame - incredible worker.

great mod squad job on the re-naming of this post. Its obvious there most be some sense made of how the trees get handled ( and people paid) in these situations. If ever a need for real certification... maybe only certain " emergency response" teams checked out by local police and fire?
I know I can't go to far, Hell, I 'd be dead! Did someone mention hotel? Nah, not for me. What, on one block 16 trucks?
I think there must be a better way, if you are just a guy who drives his stuff a 1000 miles to hand out his cell number AND use a map its going be tough. First timers shouldn't ##### to come out INTACT!
Anyone who could think its gonna be great I would consider quite the idiot. Just driving into something like that with out any local conecctions is risky.
I think I would call the township and ask to camp at the fairgrounds and by that I mean dump, sleep, park, keep the shotgun... s. I say I was looking to see where i could help and hoped they lead the way, who else is gonna no the way in a town you never have been?
If I lived closer to a hotspot I would have allready made contacts where fit.
