Anyone use a Graphite for lubing the side plates if not what do you use and how often? I have noted some mushrooming of the slot (the rear side) on the left side of the machine when I raised rollers to adjust the new blades, Don't know how this kind of wear can be repaired with out major work? I want to avoid anymore wear so was thinking of trying Graphite as it will not attract dirt like grease would. Thanks for your opinions

If you are talking about the wear surface between the moving upper roller and the fixed sides that the lower roller is mounted to then we leave that dry. I think graphite would wear off in a very short time though it would not hurt anything.

If you are talking about the top of the slot the upper roller is riding in then that gets greased every day with in the morning with 1 pump of grease. Sometimes it gets a second shot of grease after lunch. Still, the top of the slot is splayed out.

I should have said 1 pump of grease at each of the four zerks on each side.

There should be a couple plastic slides there that take the wear. If they have worn off then replace them.
Any bearing grease works just fine.

Service manager at my bandit dealer said he uses graphite when shop services bandit chippers as it does not attract dirt & dust like Grease does.

We are having a GTG in Napa Nov 2nd. How bout you show up with a couple abs?

Whats a GTG I am not familar with the term ? Is it a Get Together ?? If so is this a family or group event? I have been having trouble getting on this site for a few weeks & still can not run a search
