Recently purchased a used 2000 250xp cummins diesel. Been running good with no problems. A day ago while chippin my own brush it started running rough. Installed new air filter, and new fuel filters, drained the fuel tank, cleaned it out and filled with clean diesel. It seems like it runs better but still not 100%. It blew out black smoke last night when I fired it up.
Got any ideas?
Much thanks Tony

Is you cummins turbo charged? If it is the intercooler may be plugged up. It is bolted to the cyl. head inside of it there is a watercooled intercooler the fins for where the air travels get pluged up with small pieces of dirt. You will have to drain your coolant alittle and buy a new gasket from cummins or make one yourself. Do you have any more info about the problem like running on 3 cyls or black smoke all the time, ect.

Yes turbo. Now it just wont start. Took it into industrial diesel. They are looking into it. As soon as I learn more about this diesel I will work on it myself. Thanks Scott!

Guess I just got lazy and did not think about it. I added some lucas diesel treatment to a full tank of diesel which in turn loosened a bunch of crap in the bottom of the tank. Of course the lovely crap got sucked into the hose and fuel primer pump.
Dang-it!!!
