Landscaper I know has a 95-97 Bandit he wants me to buy. X-care of trees unit, high hours, winch, lift cylinder, newer bearings all around. He paid around 10k for the thing in 05 when he was trying tree work. Had brand new bearings at the time. He put around 300hrs on it. It has the Cummins 115hp motor. Its in decent shape but far from what I would call "nice". He wants 8k for it, from a stranger, but will give it to me for 7-7500. I dont think its worth it due to the high hours. What do you think. Please no HO or landscaper opinions please.

Original hr meter is unreadable. The replacement reads around 600. If I had to guess Id say over 5000. I dont think "the care of trees" gets rid of any thing untill they use it up. Thing still runs strong as hell.

Sounds like you cant go wrong there... as long as the motor doesn't blow up any time soon. Its got the winch on it, which is a big plus. I hate chippers that just sit there and wait to be fed.

Maybe have a diesel mechanic test the engine?

there is a lot of stuff for sale this time of year and with this economy.
i would look at a couple of them before I jumped on that one but what do iI know.It sounds beat from your description anyway but Im not looking at it have a diesel mechanic look at it first before dropping all your cash anyways.
keep in mind people are out of work and the economy sucks so make some offers on a few different ones first.

I definateley wont be dropn no scratch any time soon. I just wanted to know what you guys think this thing is worth. I see alot of Bandit 250s goin for 8g's, but usually with out a winch and half the hrs. I dont think he'll be sellin it any time soon, but Im sick of renting it. Soon he'll have made more loot renting it then he did runnin it. and he still wont come down on price. Only reason Im even considering buying it is cuz he may owner finance, with a job here or there for intrest/payments.

that's different altogether if he will help you buy it price is good if machine is good.winch big plus I used mine to pull brush in the snow real lifesaver.

The winch kit alone with out the cable or rope unpainted is between $3,400.00 and $4,000.00 delivered. I have one I'm installing on a 2007 (waiting for a good day to paint) I would check the blowby and get an oil analisis. find someone that knows bandit 250's and what to look for. that machine cleaned up and painted might fetch $12,000.00 depending on appearance. find some comparison's. and don't believe any one that has a 14 year old chipper and say's it has 2000 hour's.... post some pic's for real advice !!
