HI, I have a bandit model 100 and i need to find out how to adjust the clutch on it, its a funk single disc. and second the chipper disc has a vibration, bearings seem good disk is in good shape but knife pocket is elongated at end of knife.how do i find vibration. thanks

I have the same vibration problem with my 100. I spec out tons of assemblies which get balanced at my day job and work with a balance shop very often. The owner of the balance shop was going to help me balance my disk for little to no money but tragically past away. The balance shop is in Boxboro, MA. I think i am going to start by filling in the worn pocket with weld and then go from there. I also have to adjust my clutch but broke my elbow around the time I was thinking of doing it before Christmas. I may get into it in the next week or two.

Thanks, Im goin to weld mine up tomorow but do you know how to adjust the clotch correctly, i cant find any info on it.

The Funk Clutch is a automotive style with a disc and a pressure plate. The handle just pushes the throw out bearing to release the pressure plate from the disc. There is no adjustment that I know of if there was it would only be for the handle so the throw out bearing does not ride on the pressure plate fingers all the time. If you are having a problem your disc may be worn out.

Thank you Scott. I thought it looked like a regular clutch and that's what was confusing me...I'm not sure if its the clutch slipping or belts, just picked up the chipper and just realized the previous owner only has two of the for drive belts on. When I throttle the engine up it revs right up but the disc takes a few seconds to turn up. Also what is the operating rpm for this machine? I am use to my drum chipper. Thanks Mark

If its a ford engine most of them I have seen run at 2700 Rpms. I would guess it is the belts are loose and they should be replaced in a set if you try to put one or two new ones on with old belts they will be tight and the old ones will be loose and fly off or roll over. The best belt to get is a multi groove belt.

Thank you again Scott. I welded up the knife pocket where it was worn and a welded a small weight to the opposite side of the wheel 180 away from where it would keep stopping and settling , my vibration is almost gone, much better, going to try it all out tomorrow. Thanks again
