That Hy-tran is expensive chit. Gotta go buy some for the old IH 364 this week.
It’s less hurtful on the pocketbook running it through saws when it’s already served it’s time inside something else.

I just called in a fill for our oil barrels so we’ll see what that bill will be.l :crazy2: 250gal 15w40, 100gal 10w30, 250gal HyTrans, 150gal antifreeze, and 30gal 80w-90.

Been years since I needed any hi-trans, only thing I got left that takes it is the cub cadet garden tractors, and I still have 3/4 of a 5 gallon bucket sitting here. Only thing I've needed recently is kubota udt, and that was darn near $100.00 for 5 gallons.

Good point. I have about 5 quarts of non detergent 30 wt motor oil that I bought in the early 70's. Non detergent oil has better lubricating properties than detergent oils (the latter are better for cars because they don't leave deposits). Can I use this oil as B&C oil?
I've been making firewood for over 50 yrs now. Had a auto salvage yard all my life. Amazing how many vehicles came in with full or partial containers of all different kinds of oil in the trunk. Trany fluid, power steering fluid, gear lube, etc. It all went into my bar oil can. I'm now on my 3rd saw (1 homesite and 2 stihls) and never wore out a bar
. So I would think nothing of using your 5 qts. of motor oil. It works for me.

The steel of the bar is harder than the steel of chain. The only thing the needs lube is the nose sprocket and the chain rollers. Any oil works OK for this.
With that said Indont want to deal with stinking gear oil or waste oil.
