I have a jug of Xtra Force bar & chain oil. It's several years old... is this OK to use in my newly acquired 026? (Thanks Andy. :) )

It should be fine... But if its cold in Michigan like here you might want to use a winter weight bar oil, if the Xtra force stuff isn't (never heard of that brand before).

The 026 is such an oil gusher I wouldn't worry unless the temps are below 20... Use it up then buy soemthing a few decades more modern!

The Xtra Force oil was made by Autopak out of Chicago, and we probably got it from Menards or some place like that when we bought the little 14" Wen electric saw. I couldn't find any info about it on the web, and there's really no useful factual info on the jug. But it's bar and chain oil, and it's liquid even when it's cold.

LOL!

Should be fine, use it up. As for winter oil. the only thing i run it in is the little ms170. Was told the oiler was not as strong as in the big saws, also it dosn't warm the oil like the 044 and 046. And like Ben stated. I grew up in the western end of the U.P. and never used winter oil, even at -35F.
