The owner manuals of my Husky 55R, and Stihl Ms 280, and 046M suggest turning the bar over each time the chain is sharpened. This will "prolong the life of the bar," and make for even wear, the manuals suggest. I have done this successfully on the smaller saws but when I did this with the 046M the chain seemed to drag, ie., not run as fast. When I leave it in the original position, the chain seems to run faster. Is it possible that my not flipping the bar early enough has already worn the tip? The 046M has about 12-15 hours on the engine/bar, with a new chain(2-3 hours). Any ideas??

Just keep on turning it, but each sharpening may be a bit more often than needed.
Also remember to use the raker file for taking off any burrs and edges on the bar.

Did you initially run a worn chain on the new bar?????
