I have had great luck with the pro GB bars.I personally think they rank with Cannon's Super bar. I recently bought bulk GB bars, the price was right. also GB makes all bars for the Carlton Company.Seth

bwalker-all Cannon bars have Oregon noses

Ben widen your view. Maybe Oregon noses are not even Oregon noses. Heck the way they farm out stuff today, about the time you think you know something, you find out you are wrong.

They might be Sandvic noses??

Maintain denieability.

Even if this cannon works out I may just start using stihls es's on everything anyway. They are very high quality and are cheaper than a Cannon. BTW I didnt mean to bash oregon. I have had good luck with them for a long time. Maybe I just got a bad one.

Oregon bars

I am not forsure on this one but I thought I have heard that some Oregon Bars are made over seas and some are not. I do not know. or if so which one is better guality?
Seth

A point I want to make is that with all the buyouts, mergers, subcontracting, and closing downs, It is difficult to say who makes anything with absolute certainty.

For instance on chain; you can buy a roll today, three months later order the same thing, and it may not be the same product exactly.

Being a retired tool designer, It is relatively easy for me to see if a product has come the from the same tooling or not.

I have heard that Oregon now owns Sanvik/Windsor. Making
the chain makers either Oregon, Stihl, or Carlton. As far as bars,
and sprockets, there are some other players, and who makes
what for who is hard to pin down. Oregon has also bought
out aftermarket supplier Silverstreak, making them even a
bigger player in the Outdoor Power Equipment industry.
Whether they still market the bar under Oregon, Sandvik or
Windsor, it is still the same parent company, and crossing of
parts/components is highly likely.

We have had really good luck with Total bars, they seem to hold up really well as a pro bar. The Sandvik Windsor bars hold up really well to. We have a lot of guys that cut cord wood for a living and have a Sandvik bar last around 1000 cord.

anyone know who made the bars for Sabre? Got some NOS ones for a Mac and a Homelite They are marked Made in Sweden. they apear to be have been a quaility bar..

I once sold some Sandvik bars. Never any problems.

It is hard to get a comparison on bar durability from the everyday world. Many logger bars succumb to accidental (normal for them) damage. Many consumer bars succumb to abuse. To see a bar wear out normally is more unusual than to see them go some other way. The exceptions become the norm.

What do you guys think about Windsor Speed Tip bars I have run a few of them and have'nt really had any troubles??

Later Rob.

windsor speed tip

Hey Rob, I've used windsor bars before and found them equal to oregon power match IMO
