Just out of curiosity, I wonder why GB doesnt make a narrow kerf bar? I am having an issue with one of my saws and I think it is because I am running narrow kerf chain on a GB bar. I have 2 Husky 350's and a 346 for my firewood business. Well, on one of the 350's, I am running an oem factory bar, (I think its just an oregon bar with "Husqvarna" printed on it). On the other 350 im running a GB bar. Well, on the saw with the GB bar, I am having to tighten the chain after every 10 minutes of cutting. On the other saw, I never have to tighten the chain. Both chains are getting plenty of oil, and both are very sharp. I have went through probably 2 or 3 new bars/chains on each saw, and I still have the problem. The only difference in the two saws is the bar.
I have been having this problem for about a year now so I am going to put an oem "Husqvarna" bar on the other 350 and see what happens. Anyone have any input about this? Thanks!

heres the choices if the oil is indeed going into the bar channel.
1. the adjustment is not holding and the bar is slipping back
2 . The chain rivets and tie straps are wearing,
3. the sprocket is wearing.
4. the bar rails are wearing.

If no wear is showing up it is 1. If there is wear other places you should soon know where. There really should be no mystery.

Brad,

Take a good look at your GB bar and make sure that the pitch of the nose sprocket is right. I`m assuming that you have checked the pitch of the saw`s sprocket.

Jokers, that brings something to mind.... and I should have paid closer attention.. but I noticed that every time I put a new chain on, it doesnt quite pull around the bar as smooth as it should. It catches like every half turn. However, the reason I didnt consider this to be a problem is because I assumed that if the nose sprocket was the wrong pitch, the chain wouldnt turn around the bar at all. That is what I get for assuming. So you are saying that even if the nose sprocket is the wrong pitch, the chain will still turn on the bar?
Thanks!

Yes, and it will stretch the chain.
