bark damage, help!!!

G'day fellow loppers,
I have a beautiful Norway spruce with basal bark damage caused by a careless neighbour. Grrrrr! The tree is now shedding needles and I'm concerned for its health. Any ideas / suggestions people? Thanks, Paul
