Hi all,
I have a 5 year old weeping Fuji cherry tree that might be in some trouble. My dad's ashes were planted under the tree, so really really hoping to save it. The bark has peeled away almost around the circumference just above the graft. With hindsight, it's probably planted in an area that's a bit too shady and the soil is poor but I assume relocation at this point is too late. I gave it some additional food and new top soil but looking for advice on what else I can do to protect where the bark has peeled away. Is this it for the tree? Should I attempt a cutting and start over? Pictures of the tree and front and back of the trunk below.
