Fireblight? I sprayed the orchard 5 days ago with captec, Topsin-M, and Sevin. Two days ago noticed that the full-sized Bartlett trees (3) have dark brown leaves. Trees are 4 years old and have not yet produced fruit. This same scenario happened last year. Buds are present for a crop in 2013. I'm not sure if the disease is fireblight. Please check out the pictures. Thanks.

Fireblight will originate with the pear blossoms, if you just noticed this condition 2 days ago I would doubt FB.

Could be leave scorch, how much water are the affected trees receiving?

Are you applying your spray applications under the right conditions? (trees not under stress)

Raintree...Thanks for taking the time on this orchard concern. We are currently in near drought conditions in Wisconsin with no rain in sight. I have watering these trees and a number of my new plantings about once a week. The pear trees get about a gallon of water. With the exception of these 3 pear trees, all other trees (apple) seem fine with no wilting of foliage. Would you suggest heavier watering for the pear trees? I'm not familiar with "leaf scorch" so I'll read up on it. Currently I have 225 trees - all semi-dwarf with the exception of the three Bartlett pears. Thanks for your comments as to why you don't think FB is the problem. Any other comments would be appreciated.

I agree Raintree, that is probably not fireblight. That is usually easier to pick out from a picture of the whole tree rather than a close-up.

What are you spraying for? 2 Fungicides and an insecticide. If you suspect fireblight, none of those are the right answer.
