Hey guys, I wound up getting those Bashlin gaffs I was talking about a few weeks ago. They didn't "cost" me anything, so I figured why not? I went last night to adjust the shanks to the right length and found something interesting on one of them. On one of the shanks there were no problems, there was only one screw holding them in place, which came out without much fuss. The other one though had 2 screws in it. 1 had snapped off a while ago, and the other wouldn't budge. I wound up having to cut that one off and then grind it out so I could get the shank to move. Once I got the shank off, I took my right angle grinder and just ground both screws flat against the lower shank. So basically what I want to know is that with this information, would they be safe to use? Also, what size screws am I going to need in order to put these things back together? The whole thing about how the screws just go into the shank, and not completely through like my Bucks do, and seeing the one screw snapped like that has me thinking that these might not be worth the "money" I spent on them.
BTW, these Bashlins were purchased in 2001 and have a red lower shank, with a grey upper shank.
