What is on your bench top? Any projects in progress? This is just a thread to post up pics of your latest endeavors, and BS about the saws you are working on, wish you had time to work on, or have just completed! Pictures and a descriptive write-up would be nice!

Heres what I finished up today. Aux oiler for the mill. I upgraded from a 28" bar to a 36".

Very nice Casey - I really like the little tikes work bench!! How much oil does that hold?

Also, who drilled your bar for the auxillary oil hole? Can you show us an up close attachment of the oiler/bar interface?

Don't mind the mess, got a couple projects going on on the work bench at the moment.

Here is one that needs to be finished before the weekend.

Here is one I was hoping to have done for the GTG, but lack of parts will not allow that. It will probably be 3 months or so before this one lives, for the very first time. Anyone care to guess what saw it is? Hint, it is rare and not many were made (hence the problem with parts, lol)

Here is another I hope to have for the GTG. I swapped out the piston and cylinder for my own version and it needs the clutch cover replaced and carb rebuilt.

Y I B there Doc!!! Would that be a replacement for the missing 046? Did ya miss the one so bad, or just like the way it ran and wanted a keeper?

I dont know exactly how much oil it holds, maybe 1.5 quarts?

I drilled the bar. I started with a small bit, and kept stepping up a couple sizes till I got to 17/64ths. Drilling out that 1/4 bolt was the tricky part. I need to get a bench vise....OH, and I need to get one of those drill doctors. Nothing like pushing a dull bit because you want to get your project wrapped up!!!

Heres a couple of the bolt....

I put rubber washers on either side of the bolt, and then used a Ny-lock nut to cinch it down. The oil tube just slips over the bolt, for now.

Here's one of my projects in progress... a real workbench! I need to install the last 2 drawers, trim it out, stain it and I'm done (for now). I built the trestle frame and top from rough sawn shipping timbers I saved over the last few years. No saws on it yet but there will be soon.

Very nice bench...and a very nice collection of clamps in the background! That bench top ought to stand up to a good bunch of pounding with a BFH. Wish I had the time, tools and patience to build something like that...maybe in my next lifetime!

Thanks, Fellers.

It's hard to believe this is what I started with. I've been working on it off and on for a while. I probably have 40-50 hours invested in it. Eventually I'll put a full width end vice on the far end. Hopefully that will be before my next dovetailed trunk project.

I know this is supposed to be about saws ON the bench but I got to finish this and few other projects before I can tear into my next saw.:bang:

Looks real nice Aggie. That's 100 times stronger than the little piece of particle board I have seen on a lot of pre-made work benches.

The best work bench surface I have seen was made from a section of bowling alley lane. I believe they use hard maple for those. They weigh quite a bit.
