Whoa

Dang, Steve you sure have a full cereal bowl full of work ahead. I think you are addicted to saws bad. LOL. Hmmmm guessing here, 50 special or 590? You know I dont know about saws, but trying to guess anyways for fun. More hints cc etc?

Well, since I started this thread, I figured I would post up!

Here is my latest project. 695 Shindaiwa that I bought for a song with a cracked rear handle. Picked up a rear handle off eBay and have a few other parts coming from the dealer - double spikes, chain catcher, brake band. Working on the muffler now - gonna mod it just like my 577, just with a bigger diameter tube. Also gonna re-wind the recoil with some new rope. She'll wear an 8 pin sprocked and a 20" bar.

The 695 is the updated version of the ill-fated 680. They increased the cooling capacity, and fixed that clutch side crank bearing problem. 68cc, 13.2 lbs, 4.8 hp.

Today I finished up 2 saws for sale. Got one sold already - delivering it tomorrow, the other I have a fella who is interested...probably won't take much to get him to bite. It will be nice to replenish the saw fund. Would love to blow it on a 7900...sure is tempting!

'Just something to do in the spare time I don't have. lol

It is bigger in cc than a 50 special or 590. It is red, too.
It was a brand new saw that hasn't been made in years. The old dealer had trouble getting parts for the loggers saws, so he tore a couple brand new units apart. I picked up one, that the majority of the parts were there (all put into baggies and labeled. So technically, this is a brand new, never before been fired. I am just missing some critical parts, enough that I can't get it fired. I have most of them, but not enough to finish it for the GTG.

There is a couple there in the pics that have been around my place long enough and will end up on ebay once I get the time to finish whatever little pieces parts they need to be 100% operational again. Gives me something to do in the winter. I stock up on broken saws in the spring and summer, and work on them in the winter when I have the time. It is very relaxing, as I am not pressed for time to get them done.

And, a couple of them are my play toys that allow me to make trial and error modifications to see what works and what doesn't. Right now, I just need to clean up the garage some. lol.

Hey four paws, that is a sharp lookin shinny. Never seen one before, but I have that dawg on my 55 Rancher that is pretty much my buddies now. I leave it down on the farm where I cut and he loves it. So, if you ever run into an extra dawg and have a husky 50,51, or 55 that dawg bolts right up with no modifications.

Your shop is way too clean, lol.

Is that a ford decal on that SS toolbox? Kewl, now I know why I thought you were and ok guy.

Thanks for the props on the Shinny - seems most hate them. I like them cause they are different - the odd ones. Can't wait to fire her up. Like I said, i have double dawgs coming for it. Good to know that the dawg is interchangable with a Husky...I have several laying around.

Um...you are just seeing it at a good angle. If I would pan right, would see my 64 Scout in pieces, waiting for me to find some time and get busy on it. Pan left, and you would see my bench, that was covered in saws and parts until today - it is now cleaned.

Yeah, that is a Ford badge from some trucks tailgate - used to work in a body shop for some time back in HS/college - smashed up parts/badges/etc. were free for the taking.

I drive an '02 Superduty with the 7.3 Powerstroke. No mods yet...gonna wait for a little while longer - because when I go, I am going to go all out. And, I have a '79 F-150 that has been in the family since new. Needs a motor as the 351M is TIRED, and the radiator split a seam on the tank - she is parked at the moment, until I can find some more time that I don't have, and build a motor for it. When the time comes, 546 fuelie stroker motor!

On My Bench Top!!!

For the last month or so I had an 020T that needed crank bearings and seals!!!

Lakeside53 & Thall were a big help on this project. I received the parts yesterday and did the work tonight!!!

Saw runs great.........the real test will be tomorrow!!!

I have done a lot of saw work in the past but never crank bearings......I had a good time doing this!!!

Thanx Andy and Tom!!!

Either you guys quit doing stuff, or are too busy in "Da Prince" thread. Prove me wrong and post up! I want to see some pics of Chris B's Mac Hotsaw.

Got these two Shindaiwa 500s running today. The one on the left needed an impulse hose and a sprocket. The one on the right needed a carb kit, a fuel filter and a new starter rope.

Bringing this thread back to the top! It is always fun to see what people have going on. I got a Northern Tool Grinder for my birthday, so I got that mounted on my saw bench today - well worth the $80+shipping I paid. I dismantled a Craftsman trouble light and a power-strip I had laying around, and made my own custom outfit. Retractable extension cord that runs 4 outlets on my rolling saw bench - Light, Grinder, Dremel and ??? I used a brakeline clamp to secure the cord on the chain grinder so it is out of my way.

Not to hijack this thread, but I never thought I would say that a saw is good looking, but that 695 has nice lines. Its a good looking saw.

aaaahhhhhhh......

Well I don't have any pics but........I currently got 4 saws on the bench. My mac super 44 A, a little mac 35 top handle, my PP 220, and a poulan made 38 cc homolite. Well the super 44 A has a major fuel leak by the carb. The little mac 35 won't run unless I pour gas down the carb, the homolite just won't run, and my poulan pro 220 has a broken top AV spring that mounts on the cyl. I got to fix the poulan soon, the rest will wait until I have time. And I still want to get 2 044's and a 372 to build over winter. :)

Damn Husky's everwhere

The ONLY broken saws on my bench are Orange!!!!

I was doing fine until RBTREE noted a clear spot in my workshop and deposited his debris..

1.5 335
1 2100
1 2101
1 480

Oh, the 020 is fixed...

Thanks - the 695 is my favorite saw to run to date. Great power, light weight, built stout - if I had to pick only one saw to do all my cutting, it would be a 695. Here is how the saw looks now.

On the bench:
028 Av- Awaiting time and parts
084 - Parts all over, waiting for rebuilt engine from shop

Outside the garage door:
16' dual axle trailer just finished remodding into a serious firewood hauler,
its titled for 10,000lbs. Tomorrow will go to paint.

John Deere 207 gyramor-brush hog vintage 1956. It will also get new paint
tomorrow. This will be in the local Independence Day parade in a few
weeks.:)

Four Paws
Sure would like to see a picture of your 64 Scout.
I still have a front skid plate for it around.
Thanks

They are great old rigs - simple, reliable, utilitarian.

The picture below is just after I brought it home. It is currently undergoing a COMPLETE rebuild. I could bore you with all the details, but it will have all the rare and expensive factory options of the era - 152ci turbocharged 4cyl engine, a 4 speed, Warn Overdrive, PTO winch, 4x4 - I have a full top and 1/2 cab with bulkhead. Going with 31x10.50 BFG A/T tires and a 2" spring lift.

Well, lets see....

I got the Homie 750 that needs some tlc, got to swap some better parts around off of a BEAT 650 that I got and it will be fairly pretty. The 650 is whooped outside, pretty good internally, needs the comp lever replaced as this ones is gone.

They have been sitting for the past week due to losing the throwout bearing in my PK tractor, just started shooting sparks so I figured it was time to replace it.

Got that done this morning and resumed work on the Core Aerator I deciede to build. I couldnt find a decent one without going to a commercial unit ($1200-1800) So I decided to build it. Im about halfway done and figure Ill have spent about $400 by the time its done.

No pics here, Im whooped today.

Too pooped to pop!

Junk

Howdy Folks,

I dont have a picture but I got one heck of a mess. I got a carb and gas tank of an old roto tiller (Dont even know the make to rusted to tell) . 3 pairs of civilian eyeglasses (trying to get the broken screws out that hold the lense in). A mac 1-10 with the right hand pull (missing the lock ring and washer that hold the starter recoil in) me and my brother cut out a big c-clip out of a piece of metal furnace duct with tin snipes. I think its going to work even though its a hillbilly fix. All the tools that I was using to fix an old silver beauty battery charger (at least I got them off the floor) . Its a mess, I'm going to clean up tomorrow and maybe clean up the Mac.

v/r

Mike
