I admit it takes a little bit for people to realize I never do... joke that is.

But anyway, here is what I got if anyone decides to start bleeding. Kotex anyone?

I think the worst thing you can do is put that gauze crap on a bad cut. the fibers get in there and its hard to get out.
I do have some of that Coban but til now didn't know it was called that. Good stuff too.

a can of the wound wash is pretty inexpesive and really is the right stuff. I don't have any band-aids, sorry, get back to work.

This cannot end well lol:popcorn:

It was brought up a few weeks back about what makes good bandages. I said Kotex and duct tape and I was serious.I think she thought I wasn't. Put some in your kit for the new guy ya got. That eye wash is a hot selling item too. Just can't seem to keep enough on hand for everybody.

I suppose thats a good Idea I have a first aid kit but it is weak. I use super glue for cuts.

they beat a sweaty t-shirt hands down. I posted the pic cause the stuff is cheap, fast and dependable. You don't have to spend a whole lot on a decent kit. I got the red box from a bum under JFK Blvd. for ten bucks.

and a damm fine kit it is, seen a lot of crews with maybe, a band-aid in the ashtray of the truck.

I got one of those wally world aid kits they keep me current with regs but really if its a femoral artery or the like I don't think they would help much. Direct pressur on a pressure point and 911 quick.

yeah, they suck. Espcially for the price, its like you're paying all that money for some little band-aids.

I learned the hard way that there are really only two kinds of injurys.

Stuff you can either ignore or put a Bandaid on if it makes ya feel better, and real injurys that involve stemming blood flow while waiting for an ambulance.

Most 1st aid kits are booboo kits.

Kotex pads(Mickey mouse Mattresses) and duct tape, and hand towels and duct tape staunch blood flow and ya can stack them as they soak through without releasing pressure on the wound.

Save all the fancy sterile crap for the doctors and emergency rooms.
If the guy or yourself manages to make it there, one of the first things the doc is gonna do is pump the victim full of antibiotics and debride the wound of saw chips, fibers, and other crap anyway....after they cut away the tissues that ain't gonna heal.

All I can add is cussing a blue streak while trying to stop arterial bleeding with your hand, cuz there is no band aid in the kit big enough, sucks.
Folks bleed out quicker than most think.

I keep 2 Motel towels and duct tape as a kit nowdays.
Vehicle accidents and saws tend to involve more than just booboo's.

Good topic.

Stay safe!

Yup and where is the regurgitate proof airway in those dern kits. I hate the thought of cpr but have trained many times for it. Bad thing is it will likely be me that needs it on my job if sumpin goes wrong:monkey:

yer getting a liplock bubba.

Lol That reminds me of the old henry and peter fonda movie paul newman too, where they were pnw loggers and the guy got pinned down in a rising creek and paul was giveing him rescue breaths and the poor chap was looking up underwater and laughed himself to death, that be me bubba lmao:monkey:

Been standard in First aid kits for years......
My dad, as the local undertaker also was the local ambulance service back in the late 60's.
I still use have & use the first aid kit he carried in the hearse, it's equipped with a couple of "vintage" kotex pads.
