Looking to buy a mid range saw to edge cants when milling so I don't have to disassemble the 3120 from the Alaskan. Was about set on a 372xp but my attention was caught by discussion of the Dolmar 7900, little bigger is better. What is the best deal on a 7900 and who sells em. Thanks Bman

I cannot beat the price on the Makita powerheads sold by the big internet sites, but as far as a servicing dealer, I can give you a pretty good price, and I'm a site sponsor, and you can check my reputation on this site. If you enable your private messaging, I can send you a quote.

I just bought a saw from TonyM. I would highly recommend him. Has good prices and great service- got my saw the next day. Plus he goes through the saw to make sure everything is working properly. I've only had a chance to run two tanks through the saw so it's not nearly broke-in yet, but already it feels stonger than my 372 and seems to be very smooth.

I also recently bought a 7900 from Tony. His price was quite agreeable and the saw has worked wonderfully so far. Though I haven't come close to using all of the saw's abilities yet and only have a few tanks through it so far, it seems like an ideal everyday saw for everything except twigs...it was a bit of overkill for the 2"-4" stuff I was cutting up this morning, but boy was it FAST with that stuff! And it pulls through 20" oak quite quickly.

I would recommend him to anyone - good prices, great service, and he keeps in touch after the sale, too. And on top of that, he has a cool dog that runs around his property!

After reading Tony`s post here for the past several years coupled with what others have said about him, I wouldn`t have any qualms about buying a saw from him.

On the other hand, if you want the saw modified, I don`t think that you can do any better than getting the saw from EHP, who is also a sponsor here. I believe that Ed has sold upwards of 50 7900s and I haven`t heard anyone complain.

Let's not forget the other sponsors that do saw modifications: Dozer Dan's PP Saws, Neiger Power, and Washington Hotsaws.

Well Knot Whole, it should be pretty obvious that I wouldn`t recommend DD`s PP saws to my worst enemy based on my first hand experience with him and I haven`t bought anything from Dave or Dean so I can`t recommend them in the same way that I can recommend Ed.

I can tell you this, the price that DD quoted publicly(on this forum) for a 7900 was about $180 higher than Ed was getting at the time, and as near as I can tell was full retail. Isn`t this thread about where to get the best price on a Dolmar 7900? Does Dean sell 7900s, maybe Dave? Does Dan even sell 7900s anymore?

What is your point? I simply offered a viable option for an excellent deal on a 7900 by a builder who can actually deliver the goods.

You need to go with someone who has a solid track record.........this leaves out Dan Henry!!!

I will also add that Tony went well out of his way to send me info and pics of the 7900 flywheel recall and I never bought anything from him!!!

I didn't realize that mentioning the OTHER saw builders here at AS was going to cause such an uproar.

Okay, then, a peace offering: When it come to saw builders, I'll defer to those who have far greater knowledge of saws than do I, which will include just about everyone ;) , and I will never again mention ANY of the saw builders here at AS.

Aw ra best...Chris J.
