Great choice! I had a 359 and replaced it with the 361 which I personally prefered the 359 much more. I don't know if maybe I just got a strong one but the one I had would outcut the 361 by quite a bit, it would pull a 24" in hard maple with no problem at all. You saved a hundred plus and bought IMO next to the 270 one of the best bangs for your buck out there. WAY TO GO! Soon you'll realize you don't have to spend over $600 to get a quality 60 cc saw. Now get ready to sell it and go 70 cc's.

Good point. That's one fact the 361 fans overlooked - I can't get one around here for my $400-500 budget.

This thread's getting kind of funny - I didn't mean to start a Stihl vs. Husky thread.:greenchainsaw:

I'm going to look at porting threads now. ;)

Porting saws is more addictive than crack!!

Luckily my sig proves i'm a big stihl guy but i'm just not a 361 fan. If the 361 was priced $150 lower I would be all about it I just like getting my moneys worth and don't feel that the 361 gives you that, just like I would never buy a 357 over a 359 either. Like I said the 359 was one my favorite saws of all time next to the 441.

Good job KLR...

I'm a big fan of the 359. One I've had for four years, dead reliable(knock on wood). My second is just under two years old. It had a defective carb after 20 truckloads of wood but seems to be back with a vengeance. If you want fun, put a 16" bar on her.
Paper specs can be misleading. The dolmar might be rated at 3.9 hp like the 359. But I'd put money on the 359 in anything over 6".

good to see some 359 users coming out and talkn them up, usaly its the cancer this and cancer that.

good to see it and see it does well compared to the 361

I had a dolmar and could never imagine a 24" on it while my 359 always had one in fact 16" was just right with a 3/8 chain. Yes paper specs are BS. BS BS. Just like weight specs, I could give a rats a$$ what a chart says I wanna see and run the saw not get out the digital scale.

I changed my muffler to the non-cat and it sure seems to run with a bit more grunt and it sounds better. I'm no saw expert, all I know is that the 359 is a strong running saw.

Smokerr

another one bites the dust and falls to the 359

Yep, some folks just won't buy quality. As long as they just play with em a bit and not push em hard or expect em to last 20 years I am sure they will be happy in their ignorance (grin)
