I want heated handles! I'm not sure if an 024 was made, or if it is the best choice(parts availability, number of heated handles, modability).

Opinions?

The fact you have parts to sell to the fool should not flavor your answer.

Thanks Rob

The 026 was made as an arctic model... parts should fit an 024.. maybe..

But to retofit (if that's what you mean)??? That's a lot of parts.. Flywheel, generator, handle bar, heaters for rear and handle bar, carb heater parts.... and that's just off the top of my head! I'm sure I missed some.

Just buy an 026 arctic from some place north of here...

The smallest Stihl I have heard of is the 026/260, as Andy said.

You don't need the full blown arctic to get heated handles, there are other versions with the heated handles, at least here........

more info

Either build or buy, rebuild an arctic.

024 or 026, any reason why one or the other.

I'd like to stick to Stihl as I drive mostly chevys, but I have a dodge and ford so I had to get some echos and a cox model140 left handed

opinions(on the saws)

I'm just assuming this, but sometimes I think that the Arctics may get the best quality control at the factory due to the extreme conditions that these saws are used under.
Once I had a brand new Sno Pro 357 and left it running on half throttle lock without B&C and put it in the fencerow to break it in while I went back in the bush to get another hitch.
Anyway, when I came back 20 minutes later, my 357 was screaming and the rear handle had melted cause I hadn't noticed the switch was on.
Husky said they'd replace the tank, but I had to pay for the R&R because you're not supposed to heat your handles in the summer! So I did the R&R myself.
I wonder what BMW would say if someone had left their heated seat switch on their a$$ melted to the upolstery?

The 028 also had heated handles.

wiring and switch.

That's it... What more is there to say?

026 is your best bet, but good luck in finding one south of 48 N...

And... it's either Arctic or not.. no "just heated handles" model. And Stihls have a thermostat so you don't have to worry about the carb boiling off...

Well, they have been here from time to time - C-BW is this years model, but I wouldn't want that one, because of the QCA - btw, they are still 48.7 cc/3.4kW here......;)

Btw, my 361 is a W, not WH, which is the same as the "Arctic".....

You rationalize your way, I'll rationalize my way!!

I figure it this way:

I scored an 036 heated handle, I have an 034 super, Dean at WHS and I were talking about Wohlhaupter heads so I'll get it a stage II mod(min) .

Wiring diagrams for sale?

Flywheel and pickup?

Will an 044 carb heater work for an 036 carb?

Talk amongst yourselves

What happened to SMALL?

You're doing it all the hard way... the handle is the easy part to find... but make sure the elements are intact (non-replaceable) or you'll be looking for another...

The flywheel and generator are real hard to find...

The carb heater is the same as the 044. YOu will need to get the theromostat and bond it to the carb pump chamber (different than on the 044)

The wiring diagrams are part of the IPL...

Doesn't help in the USA... unless you have one to ship over here.:hmm3grin2orange:

Well, I like the 026/260, even though I often bash it in writing, for obvious reasons - shipping to the US would be about 150 USD, plus the cost of the saw (3-400 USD for a good used one):bang: :bang: :bang:

I have followed 026's on ebay for probably about 4 years or so. To my recollection, I have only seen 2 026 arctics. If I was you, I would take andy's advice and look for one up in canada since I think you will have a heck of a time finding one in the states. Maybe Gypo can help you stir one up. If he is able to stir two up I'd probably be interested in one  .

Barter for parts

Heck, part of it is getting what I want,I don't NEED it.

Lets see, what do I have that other people WANT, that will make people let

go of the parts I WANT.
