Gotter Done

Here's an update...

Did the job last week with just my standard bucket and grapple. We finally got 3 days without rain so the grass held up really well under my tracked mt-50 and the only wear area was where we entered and exited the yard in the same spot. Otherwise, I made an effort to stagger my path over a 15' area to give the grass a break inbetween passes. And, boy, did it take a lot of passes! I think it was about 60 round trips with the mini including about 15 to carry out the 4 remaining canada red cherry trees that we cut down and another 45 trips to carry out the mulch from the 9 stumps (5 per stump) and carry in the dirt on the return trip.

Got the entire job done in about 12 hrs x 2 guys and I think I guestimated exactly that in the bid. A bigger mulch bucket might have helped to speed up the job but I sometimes forget how much extra debris I can get in my small bucket with the grapple. The grapple easily increases my bucket capacity by 35, maybe even 50 percent.

As grass wear was really my main concern, just using common sense in being careful with my turns and in staggering my path on each trip did the trick. The customer, whom every neighbor was warning me about during the job, was very satisfied with the results and handed me a check the minute I finished! Gotta love that.

Thanks again for all your suggestions.
