as ive mentioned ,i was buying myself a bigger saw. well its been 8 days now and the money order hasnt got to its destination yet. on top o that i sold a parts saw the same time ,that money hasnt got here yet either.. im beginning to suspect, a weak link at some point in the postal system.
in other wds a postal emloyee that is checking the mail. at christmas ,id bet half the letters got money in them. this is a 300 money order . but i dont know if ill get my money back or not. not to mention the trouble it causes for the seller.. in anycase . all my purchases will be sighned for in the future.just thot id put out the warning.:( :)

I had the same thing happen to me last year. I now only use Paypal for payments.
Much faster, and almost instant confirmation of payment

Hope it gets there or back to you Tony. The USPS is ok most of the time I havent had any serious problems yet. If it needs to get there fast I go with priority mail with insurance. That helps out some, gives you a little peace of mind.

thanks for the input. i decided to wait until tuesday to put the trace on .
keep hoping ill get wd that it arrived.
this was what santa was gettin me so
im not much fun to be arround rite now.
stuff happens.mabe somebodies trying to let me know, i got an addiction. nah

Hope you get your saw Tony, like Toneman, I now only use paypal for ebay purchases. Money orders and bank checks are just too much hassle.

I ship anything saw-size via UPS. No problems so far. Back when I was using USPS, it took about four weeks for an Allis I sold to make it halfway across the country. It seems that big packages that aren't time-sensitive always go in the trucks last.

The day I use PayPal I will eat my 111S, bar first.

"It seems that big packages that aren't time-sensitive always go in the trucks last."

I use priority mail all the time. It is usually only a couple of bucks more, even on large stuff, especially with the recent rate increases. In the sticks, USPS is more convenient than UPS for outgoing stuff for me.

I use Priority for all small stuff and anything big when the price difference isn't too bad, or when it's cheaper than UPS (short distances). Once you tack tracking and insurance on top of the USPS fees it really bites.

However, I'm used to seeing things like a $35 for USPS Pri, $25 USPS Ground, $15 for UPS, and then maybe $12 for FedEx Ground (RPS) all for the same package.

USPS lost a couple of my packages, damaged one, and seriously delayed a few more. UPS has been problem-free. The trick is not to tell them what's in it (like a valuable chainsaw) or mark it as fragile. It goes into the shipping info somewhere. As an example: Packages being "lost" went way, way up after they started requiring people to mention when they were shipping firearms.

guess what, harold got my money order for the solo today.12 days after i sent it.
id had given up an told him, he didnt have to hold it for me as i knew he needed the money. walla ,it finally arrived. hope ups is faster than postal.
i cut about two hrs today after wk .
that little partner 5000 is a fast little saw.next week ill be getting into the bigger stuff.:D :D :D :) a good day

I'm really glad it worked out for you, Tony. Looking forward to your evaluation of the new Solo. After leading us on all this time, you gotta make good and give us a full report after you carve up a few trees with it. :D

u can count on it. too bad its not here now, as we looking at an ice storm that may make a mess around here. no matter tho ,got three 50 cc saws that have done the job up until now. any body out there in it be careful . this is when anything can happen with downed trees an limbs, along with a-- busting slick ground.:)

Tony
Dont worry about a larger saw,you should have a 71cc saw by the end of the week, just use that one.
We had an early ice storm here a few weeks back, still had all of the leaves on our trees.it looked like a tornado went through here and broke the tops out of all the trees.I didn't have electricity or over two days.
I had withdraw symptoms from not being able to use my computer.

Money order in the mail

Tony,
I try to use paypal myself when buying something from someone that I cant physically pick up myself. If the seller cant take or wont take paypal,I'll send a postal money order in a small priority mail box that they usually have at the counter. I also put delivery confirmation on it for an extra .35 cents just for piece of mind.
Never a problem......knock on wood.
Just my .04 cents worth.
Mike.

good suggestions. dan im reallly looking forward to that bud. ill be gettin in touch in the future. im debating whether gettin u to power tune a smaller saw instead of the solo. say mabe the poulan pro 335.
or 028. it just makes sense to me as this is the size saw i use most of the time. im not real satisfied with the present set up on the 335 any way.
lot o power but nothin fast about it.
3/8 chisel chain 20 bar. like i say im thinking on it.later now

just thot id give u guys a final. got the saw,and after adjusting it to my climate
it seems to be a real good solid saw.
like harold said ,except for a few little marks ,it shows very lite use.
one thing im not familar with is the muffler. are they ported from the factory .
2 pipes into the front of the mufler, along with a side port..i looked an not one picture ive found,on the solo sites showed the muffler side. as i said it was a surprize.

Just happened to have a pic of a 667 solo from te front
Are those the holes you are talking about??
They are the screw holes for the two cylinder muffler mounting bolts

yep ,here i am all redfaced an embarrased. mounting screws they are.
u younguns remember this . dont matter how well u body holds up. the eyes will probably loose ground as u get older.
mine are getting a lot worse and that can be a problem for any handy man:( :)
thanks jeff for setting me strait on the mufler.never owned one ,made like that.
i was looking at the picture huskyman had of dans saw ,and its the same.
oh well sometimes u feel like a nut ,sometimes u dont.later now.

Tony,
At first glance I can see were it does look like the outlet(s)...
Those Solo's are a little different and those mufflers are all brazed up and one piece. Makes it difficult to modify because of that but it does make for a nice sealed unit.
I wasn’t trying to embarrass you- I hope I didn’t come across that way…
Heck when I first saw them when they came out that way (on a Solo 651) I actually thought as you did and I had to take a second look…

Good luck with you new saw! I know it will serve you well
