My friend just gave me a job today to do for one of his clients. I have to give the people a price, and he will help me with whatever I need. Here is the job.

Proposal 1:

Install cobra systems into 19 Lindens of about 24" - 30" DBH. Install EHS cable, and threaded rods into 4 of them. Overall probably 10 - 15 rods will have to be installed. I figure no more than 30 feet of cable will be used, and probably 200 - 300 feet of cobra will be used. Prune out dead wood over 3" in diameter, or anything that is over the driveway. You can just whack them off with a saw and let them drop. Nothing huge. You can park a portable lift right under each and every tree. Dead wood prune 2 maple trees each about 20" DBH, lots of dead wood in them, but everything can be bombed. I figure it can be done with 2 people in 3 days no problems.

Proposal 2:

Fertilize the Lindens listed above. Apply Cambistat SC2 to the 2 sugar maples.

Proposal 3:

Install cobra system into a HUGE silver maple. Gonna use at least 100 feet of cobra in this. No more than 200 feet. There are 2 or 3 VERY small limbs which have to be just whacked out while I am up there. Clean up an area of busted up trees. The clean-up work shouldn't take more than a few hours with 3 people. To brace the maple will probably take 4 - 5 systems. There is already a steel system in there, however it is WAY too low.

Throw in for all:

Whack 4 small cedar limbs over by the house... can be dropped with a power pole saw.

This one I have time to think on... but what do you guys think???

Figure your costs for materials . Figure your time that you expect it to take x $ per hour. Add the two. Double it. Submit it.:)

I am coming up with an overall figure of $17,650.

This is using ~$15 per foot of cable, $75 per threaded rod, $125 per dead wood prune on the lindens, $200 per dead wood prune on the maples, $10 per caliper inch for fert, and $150 for each Cambistat application, plus $250 to clean up this junky area.

Part 1 comes to $9,900 according to my calculations

Part 2 comes to $5,500

Part 3 comes to $2,500

Possibly the complete package for $15,000?

Does this figure sound abnormally high?

I figure that averages out to about $600 per tree or something like that for everything.

If I don't have any problems, this job should take about 4 days with 2 people and there should be about 20 yards of chips generated.
