Once warm, most long bar users drop start the saw with the chain brake on or start it on the ground in the run position with the brake on. Otherwise, too much risk of rocking out or kickback unless a big stump is closeby.Some of those saws have bars so long, I'd be a bit concerned starting them up in my garage.
