:help: I got a petzl caritool a few days ago , and I love the way it stays put and doesn't flop around on your saddle. I looked on a petzl website this morning and they show 2 sizes of caritools, a small and a large. The small is what I have, also what sherriltree and every other place seems to have. The website that showed the big caritool was one you couldn't order from , just an info site.

Does anyone know somewhere that sells the big one ?

This wasn't the official petzl site, JPS. It was somewhere I ran across surfing , following links. I'll try and see if I can find the site again.

thats what i do with mine now man. why do you need the bigger one to do it with? use the one you got. oldirty

I do, but when I use the small one the setup seems kind of flimsy when you clip the saw handle direct. The bigger one is supposed to be stronger.
Plus the bigger one will be easier to clip and unclip the saw with the bigger gate.

If you have a rock/ice climbing retailer near you it can be picked up and fondled prior to purchase. To see if you really NEED it.:hmm3grin2orange:

These clips are more popular with ice climbers(for securing ice axes when not in use) which may make it harder to find a retailer in GA, but thought I'd throw it out there for those that may be able to find one locally.

We have alot of outdoor outfitters here, most of them don't carry a whole lot of rock and ice gear, just the basics. I've got where I order most of my climbing gear from sherreltree, you can't beat the price or service. But they don't have the big one yet.

Where the caritool shines as an Ice Tool is for racking your ice screws. There's a little flat shelve kinda on the top of the caritool that the screws can rest on while you are flipping thru them to find the right one. Small feature, big convenience !
