OK so I am a homelite fan but does anyone else find it fishy that an 090 can make 13 horse at 6500 but my wimpy little 750's are rated less than 7 horse at 12,500. I just don't think that 20cc's makes 6 hp cause orange and white paint sure don't .

Where'd you hear an 090 was rated at 13 hp? I believe they are about the same as an 088 or 3120 at 9 hp.....

Probalby read it in some ebay seller's blub...probably the same seller who thinks that a MS290 is a serious professional logger's saw...

Maybe from one of my posts. There was a thread a while back someone asking about 090 hp, and one of the pages on Acre's site had it listed as 13 hp, and I posted a link to that. That started a firestorm, and then John posted a pic of his 090's service manual that listed it as 9.0 I think.

Hello Jeff, you may be right, but I have seen the 090 rated at both 13 and 15 hp in old Stihl advertising, but the point is that it was SAE hp, which are a totally different animal than the hp/bhp usually referred to today.

The more or less official statements I have seen on the 090 in real hp, is 8.5 and 9.0.

Edit; The 15 hp statement was in an adverticement in Popular Mechanics magazine in 1967, posted by Che some time ago. The link (or attachment ?) is gone by now, but I have a paper printout of it.

So what your are saying is the 090 saws are also overpriced and parts should be cheap.

I need to give you a call but my work schedule has been to screwed up lately.
