Dave Neiger posted a picture of himself and a big tree. I will now take my turn. For reference I am 6' and a hefty 325 lbs.

Pics were taken in McKinley Grove, not the largest trees on earth but close to where we were camping.

Sedanman, what ever you do , donot tell Gypo where that tree is cause he will try to fall it with his 346 with a 16 inch bar on it

I learned a bit about the Giant Sequoias too. The root system can spread 2 acres but is usually very shallow for such a larfe tree only 5 feet deep! The pamphlet I read said no Giant Sequoia has been know to die of old age. They fall to their deaths in heavy winds or rarely when they pose a hazard, to the saw.

Errr..., A tree with deep roots is the exception. Most trees have 90% + of there roots in the top 14 inches of soil.

well i dont deal much with whats below ground.. but dont they usually have a tap root..mabe il learn something here.
