Well guys the time may have come. I love my TRD Tacoma but its just not big enough for me now. So Im looking at 3/4-1 tons. I like the F250-350 Fords. I priced both tucks in XL trim with man trans 5.4 v-8, and are right around 29-30k. Any one have these trucks? like them dont like them? any and all comments welcomed.

I was thinkin about that too. An meduim duty truck is too big (even tho I'd like one!) So I have looked at 1 ton dumps and stakebodies, 4x4, man trans. I'd be plowing with the truck small lots and driveways

my fire dept has a 350 with the 6.4 power stroke and we have a few thousand pounds on it all the time 2000lbs just water and you can't tell its there.. if you're guna buy a big truck buy diesel

I was thinking something like a very well-maintained 1990 F350 with 12' dump bed and removable chip box would work well for you. You know, something with a dependable 7.3L powerstoke diesel, auto transmission (recently rebuilt) and dual 60" underbed locking toolboxes to put all your tools in. Something inexpensive yet reliable and professional looking.

Hmm...wonder who might have one for sale along with a very nice bandit 200+ chipper...?

Hmm...I wonder.

I also haul w/ a tacoma. I put hellwig ez level 550 helper springs on it. I don't have to tell ye how ####ty the tacoma leaf springs are. But I'd sooner chop one of my juevos off before I traded it in on a Ford.

You still got that chipper eh??

Thats why I got rid of my 1990 200+, even though I miss it on lawns because it was light and had the big tire/fender deal. It was just getting too old and I knew I'd better dump it before I was married to it for life. I hardly used it much anymore anyways...I still miss it though when the 250 with the quads sinks into the lawns from chipping..plywooding the bucket and then the chipper in is pretty much hell too. That old chipper had its place, I sort of wish I kept it. Still I paid 9500 for it, ran it for 12 years, and then sold it for 8500. sort of a no brainer there. I did put some dough into it...but still!

Yeh, still got it. had a number of calls on just the chipper and also calls on both the chipper and truck as a package deal. Lots of interest and I thought I had both sold a couple of times but no final deal on either yet. I think the price is right at $8400 for the chipper but I might be a bit high on the truck at $7500. I'm offering a package deal for $15k but am ready to barter if someone shows me the cash or has a good trade to offer.

I think they'll sell. I just need to find a closer buyer. Apparently, folks from the east think SD is in another country or something and afraid to drive here or have something shipped from here. :)

Yeah, hopefully it sells for you soon. Good luck.

I put the hyd. winch on mine, which made it a bit more appealing too I suppose. Mine had the cummings 76 hp, whats yours running??

cummins 84hp. Just spent a bunch of money in the shop putting new tires, alternator, fuel pump, fuel lines, core heater and other stuff on it. It got new paint and decals last year and bandit inspected it and said there's nothing that needs to be done to it. As a matter of fact, last year, they told me they were selling similar units for $10-12k.

Maybe the economy will look better to folks by spring and more buyers will be looking once we're out of this slump.

The problem is that folks see you claim to do tree care and you're in South Dakota. Well, naturally, that sets off alarm bells right away. They figure you for a scammer, because everybody knows there are no trees in South Dakota!
