I have Michael Dirr's Manual of woody landscape plants which is great and plan on getting another one of his books but I need one that would be helpful for pruning. I live in Portland, OR to give you an idea of my environment.

Any help?

Best Practices, Pruning Standards, u can find it on the ISA book store site, there are many more there. I would start there, finish that and get another. You can find the hardbacks on Amazon for real cheap. I got Arboriculture by Harris for like 20-30 bucks, norm is almost 100.

+1 on Harris, for tree pruning and the Young tree training section is gold, the top of my list.
