Whatever Happened to Bow Saws?
Was it a liability issue to the companies?
I noticed in the Baileys catalog that you can purchase the bar. But havent seen any in a dealership in years and never thought about it I Guess.

my guess would be that most people are not expierenced enough to use them wiht out eating them. hell i get nervous doing boring cuts with a standard bar. i guess after your first trip tot he hospital with a chainsaw injury you get a little paranoid.

It does take a bit of getting used to using a bow saw. You've got to pay a bit more attetion to where the bar is going. I run my Partner TS with a bow bar, its fun to use something different every once in a while:D

Hi All. I want to first say that bow bars are not for the inexperienced operator in any case. That being said, I use a bow on my husky 288lite, although with the bow there is nothing lite about it! I never use it above my chest. I always have my 028 as my backup and over chest high cuts. A bow is very good for quick cuts in logs on the ground. Here in the deep south we cut a lot of hardwood such as oak for firewood. I was raised with the bow on an 041 farm boss. The key to a bow is never use any part of the bar except the dogs are against the tree. I really don't agree with the concept that they are too dangerous for public consumption. They require the same respect any form of power tool does. They are less forgiving than some I suppose. But man do they eat wood. They save my back as well.- Robert
