Bowsaws or Swede saws.

All the replacement blades I see anymore are flame hardened teeth and not sharpenable. They have too much set to cut decently and are not really sharp either. Where do you get blades that would be suitable for competition.

Donald Lambert is a good place to start or if you can get one JP Mercier, both are very good blades and are making faster blades everyday

Ed, that might be a bit rich for me, probably about the price of a chainsaw! I would like to dink around a bit with them and I expect there is every bit as much to learn as there is to racing chain. By the way, where do you store your bowsaws you cut with and what is your dogs favorite food?

Frank my crosscuts and bowsaw blade sleep in the same room as i do , you have to be carefull of rust, there not that bad for price Frank just if you can get one , i donot have a JP blade but do have 4 bowsaw blades from Donald

the dogs like any kind of meat Frank

The bowsaw I owen and run are all Lambert Blades. I have #172, #222, and #441. At the Clarkson show many contestents looked my #441 blade over very hard. It's a two cutter that I asked for two years ago. I took 4th with the blade at Booneville. The problem with these blades is that the points are so Fine they are very easy to roll the points. I have two more blades on order for next year, one from each builder. The JP Blades seem to carry the edge a bit longer on the 4 cutters.

I did experiment with annealing to make the hardpoint saw fileable but went a bit too far and got the teeth a bit softer than I like. You'd need better science than what I used.

Ed do the boys who make the race blades file a totally different pattern?

Crofter they make the blade, it is not a blade they refile,Gaston can make a blade as well but he is not selling any now
