browning yew

I have a well established 40ft long yew hedge made up of approx. 25 yew shrubs and one of them has turned brown. I cannot find any signs of insect activity and there is no browning on any of the other yews touching the browning one. They are high up on a wall so there is no chance of salt getting into the soil from road treatments. Any thoughts?
