I have what I believe to be a brush bandit 65. With all the downed pines I've been dealing with...yes I'm still getting work outta Sandy....my biggest issue is the machine not throwing the chips out very far. White pines and the long needles, forget it. Its easier to load on the truck with the mini skid. Before I go and ghetto fab a leaf blower into the system, I figured I'd ask the pro's lurking here for some advice.

Am surprised to hear that, cause the chips coming outta my 65 could peel the hide off a mule.
Next time you open the disc cover take a look and see if you got a bunch of packed sawdust and gunk built up on the bottom of the fan pockets on the disc. Doubt that would even make much difference anyhow. Your blades sharp and anvil square? Anvil / blade clearance set properly? You chipping at full throttle? My 65 loves white pine. it is probably it's favourite food.

The housing will be clear and as soon as it gets into the needles, the chute clogs up. It eats the wood ok. My machine has a big Wisconsin motor on it...even at full throttle maybe this motor doesn't make enough rpm?

+1 on making sure your blades are sharp, anvil square, and gap adjusted. I set mine closer to 1/16 than 1/8. Take a look at your disk too, it should be nice and square where the hole is cut through behind the blades. If you have a lot of hours, the chip can wear a 'cup' into that hole, almost to the point of wearing through to the bolts for the blades. It's an easy fix if you've got a welder and some time. Having that area nice and square helps. Sounds like you've got something going on though, those machines do throw the chip out hard and far.
