Anybody own a 1290H, the self feeding drum? Like it?
Demo'd one today with a cat diesel. When we fired it up at the shop the feedwheel lift wouldn't even work, brand new:eek:
Well, it was spanking new , maybe had some air in the lines? They were going to send a mechanic out to the job but it started working after we put a few pieces through.
Few things about it :
It towed pretty good, balanced well, but a little heavy.
Took wood over it's capacity no problem:D
Made pretty nice chips but some big ones too? Maybe setup with a little too much gap?
Trap door BS is rediculous, maybe I'm missing something?
I did like the chute adjustments.
The sheet metal on the tray seemed thin? Few other steel places seemed thin like where the wheel lift cylinders are mounted.
Once the feedwheels started working they would not always return the closed position, it would stop maybe at 3 inches open. Had to keep using the handle to close it.The rails weren't greased, could have helped? We moved the spring mount up one notch but I didn't stick around to see if it worked.
Are the other Bandits feedwheels setup the same way?
Next we're going to try the 200 or 250.

Todd, see if you can demo a Morbark too. If I had to choose between a Bandit and a Morbark, I would take the Morbark.

Already have, salesman brought the wrong one and it had problems. He never got back to me to bring another, that almost kills it for me right there....

chippers

we use vermeer 1800 's ,we also have 3 250xp with jd 115 or 125hp they are 2000and 2001's.they work well.also ave a 290 mobark but just as a back up it seems to small after using the big chippers. the next chipper will be a carlton with a cat 12 or 14 inch heavy but really built great. call john over there. only problem they were back orders.
