Looks like the turret to truck frame plate bolts failed....

WOW! That is some bad stuff. I had a winch on one of my trucks, barley ever used it, could handle 1 ton, never came close. Was there a guy in that bucket when it failed? We have a local crazy guy here, Masons Tree service, guy is a topping crack head nut, but everybody feels sorry for him, why I dont know. I watched him years ago doing the same thing with his, could swear that upper boom was arching like a fishing pole! Never broke! Still uses it! Amazing and scary at the same time!

I guess it might be crazy to ask if any of these guys do their annual boom inspection and testing..
here's the story on the bucket truck accident. It happened in the poconos in NE PA. The company involved was Jaflo a line clearing company that does alot of work in this area. They did some work last summer near my area. Saw some shady stuff going on. They knocked a utility pole out of the ground one day dropping a tree.

That story sucks. I want to know why the boom failed, although I suspect, (as I mentioned before), that the turret to truck bolts failed.

Hey Treeace you could prob sell that truck in the picture to your old boss just tell him to look at how much side reach it has he will never have to worry about poisen ivy again.
This is what is wrong with the world their is no middle ground. You have guys that will feel its perfectly fine to drop a top of a tree onto a bucket. Also not wearing any ppe or being tied into anything. Then you get the other end I saw this plowing a couple of days ago. A guy snow blowing his driveway had a headlight on the blower also a yellow flashing strobe, he was wearing hi vis yellow suit with reflective tape all over it he also had a few blinking lights on him, this is the best part orange cones at the end of the drive with cuation tape across them I wish I had a camera. This was also in a residential neighborhood that if ten people go through in two hours thats alot.

LOL,I can just picture it...to funny. Kinda reminds me of a few of the volunteer fire fighters from the small town I grew up in. Maybe the guys a lawyer? LOL, and not taking ANY chances ....
