I have a standard buckingham traverse right now and am thinking of getting the delux as my next saddle. The lack of padding and width of the back pad is starting to get old. I tried the dragonfly but didn't like the way it hung when sitting, it felt like it would drop you backwards.

Anyway, I love the sliding d on the traverse but would prefer a rope style. Has anyone made a mod on their saddle (traverse) that uses a rope instead of the webbing brown stuff it comes with.

Also any opinions or recommendations on the deluxe traverse would be appreciated. cheers

I was on a traverse for a long time. I custom ordered it with large D's over eight years ago.
In Feb. I got my Dragonfly, and had the same problem you encountered. I decided the only thing that was lacking was an adjustable batton, and retrofitted some slings and clevises to drop the batton to an acceptable level. The light weight and bridge possibilities make it a superior harness IMHO.

As an owner of the standard traverse for some time, I am curious why you don't like the front brown strap that holds the two floating "D's." I would imagine that a rope there, instead, would collapse into your crotch each time you slacked off to change position. I could see how that would get real old, real fast.

I would prefer a rope bridge because it would be more easy to custom and change to your liking. Also it's a little less bulky, which I doubt would make much of a difference. Never considered the problem of it collapsing into the crotch?
