hey yall
some of you know that last year i was experimenting with drying my chainsaw carvings and slabs in a
solar kiln and it was hit and miss but when the weather was right i found that if
i dried the logs then carve and finish the drying process what i got back was
a product that didn't crack and was A LOT lighter
but with all the successes i had there were just as many failed attempts im sure some
of them were from my lack of practice but most were the weather
ether there was not enough sun or it was to hot/cold
the other problem was the time it took solar kilns are slow and do not work in the winter when there is not many sunny days the only way i will ever
have control over the drying process is to build a permanent kiln with its own heat supply
so here is the plan
i have a shipping container on its way should be here next week traded a bench for it
now i need a heat supply im going to be using my wood furnace out of my shop
im still shopping around for fans but i think im going to use the cage fan out of a furnace to
start with
im also going to be manually controlling it so i guess i have every thing i need
well thats it for now if any of you guys that know more about this stuff then i do
let me know what elce i need to think of in the planing of this kiln
or any other problem that might arise
