Guys, like I said first with Newfie agreeing and now PU climber voicing suspicion, something is wrong here, it sounds, or at least spells like Timber all over again. "jayweber", 3.5 gpa hmmm.............I call BS, if I'm wrong I won't apologize.

But he's goin' to colladge first.:dizzy:

1. who is timber anyway and why are u guys confusing me with him
2. the only reason my spelling is horrible is because i happen to be a very bad typist that is always in a hurry.
3. I do have a 3.5 GPA and i take a level 5 fcat reading 6 being the highest
4. why do you think I'm asking questions, BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWERS. so be patient with me and my dumb questions or don't bother to look in this thread at all
5. So please, get over my grammatical errors and we don't need any low blows here, I'm 15 and even i realize that this thread is quickly turning in to a immature insult contest.

as for those who are helping me, thanks for all the great info

to answer all of the other posts not only do i see the hurricane market but all year round i find this a profitable industry, i could be wrong and please correct me if so, almost every busines (especially in south FLA) has a multitude of competition so you always have something to worry about.

Hey guys? His spelling is bad, but so is your reading. He's not trying to start a business.

He's doing a business plan for a school project.

There's a world of difference there.

For a 9th grade school project, he doesn't need to have all the answers. He doesn't need all the info that he would need to really start a business and be successful. He can put together a business plan that will get a good grade regardless of wheter or not the Florida market is a good one or bad one.

It's a theoretical exercise!

The more realistic his plan, the better grade he will get, or at least, SHOULD get, but it doesn't have to be based on the reality of the current Florida market.

thats why i have been doing hevy reserch before i even really think aout investing any money into this industry. I will research this for years and problbly go to a many tree schools on this before i assemble my company. This is why i want to talk to the pros to know what im getting my self into before i spend a dime. Everyone has to start somewhere

thanks

Hey Blueridge, you must have missed this post I guess. :dizzy:

Yes, this is allegedly a school project that he is researching, but he seems to have the ultimate intention of starting a business.

Jay Weber,
if you truly have a 3.5 GPA then you'd realize there's 100 other businesses better than the tree business. the equiptment is very expense, it's one of the most dangerous businesses in existance (insurance rates are ultra-high), and the tree employees are very hard to deal with. unless you are paying out big money (which lowers your profit).

i doubt you have a 3.5 GPA with all those spelling mistakes.

thanks for telling me the truth on how this business really is. However i do have a 3.5 GPA and you cant tell me my intelligence based on a spelling, if you really knew me you would know that I have a broken left arm so i can only type with my right hand which really slows the process on top of that I'm a horrible typer. Second of all, I'm in ninth grade i have showed all of you respect and i think i went to the right place to get my information from pros.
PS i just did a form check for this so called timber if you guys are confusing me for some handicap you have it wrong the only handicap i have is a broken arm.

Don't bother writing back as i will not return to this thread nor this site. I will just find another business to do my project on maby a jet ski rental

I didn't miss it. I also didn't miss that 9th grade is a looong way from being ready to actually start a business.

Especially if you are going to colladge first. :D

I was actually on his side until he piled on that broken arm. Right.

Hmmmm... When I hit the wrong key it's usually a key near the one I intended to type....

The sad thing is that with schools the way they are now, he just might be telling the truth about his GPA. :(

i asked my neighbor, who is in high school, about Coral Springs Charter H.S. and he said it's one of those private-type schools where your grades are based on how much your parents "support" the school. this would certainly explain why he can't spell, yet claims to have a 3.5 GPA. :greenchainsaw:

i can type with my toes and have less mis-spellings.

Jay, I'm sure you'll do fine on your project. Focus on school now so you can do well in an arboriculture/urban forestry program later.

Jayweber, if that is your name, do well in school so you won't have to deal with the freaking trees!

Well, I need to give some of you guys and education...I hate that you all scared this young gentleman from our site. Maybe he is a troll.....I have a hard time seeing what competitive advantage he would have over any of you legit tree guys by doing a school project on the tree industry. A charter school is not really a private school, it's a unique Florida creation, which is publicly funded but with small classrooms all the other benefits of a private school. Anybody can start one as long as it's legitimate and not overtly religious, so I doubt his parents contributions have anything to do with his grades, maybe their interest though. I think most people at CSCH are really good students with parents that push them hard. You can't judge a person by the quality of their spelling. My spelling isn't so good either, but it's not cause I can't spell, it'c cause my typing sucks. I had about a 3.8 GPA in HS and at the community college and my worst ever course was typing 1000 and a C- at that, because I could not or would not learn the technique. I think I got the C- because the lady that taught the course had a soft spot for me. I doubt he will ever really start a tree business...but Jay if you're still out there and you go through with this, get the basics first
1) Insurance....you must have it...it may not be required but it is teh ethical thing to do
2) A good small, middle sized and over 3.8 Cu. Inc saw
3) Good climbing gear
4) Common sense, patience and mental toughness.
5) couple of beat up old pickups
But hey, I'm not in the business(yet) but if I do, that's what I'll start with
