Bundle shed

building a little storage area for bundles. I can only store about 50 in my garage, so this should help free up space. Should hold about 100 or more.





I'll put some sides on it later. Maybe doors or a tarp on the front.

How deep are the shelves? Will they hold the weight?

Shelves are 36" deep (2 bundles). I was standing on them to attach the upper braces. They'll hold.

Looks very good. You can store them in rows, two bundles deep. Now post a pic with the bundles all packed tight. Wait a minute, Maybe not. That might mean that none got sold.

If there is any question of the top shelf holding, place a vertical 2" x 4" kicker from the top of the bottom deck to up tight under the upper deck framing at each leg. Then the weight is on the framing and not the fasteners. Looks good.

I feel your pain. This weather has been a disaster for firewood bundle sales. Not even dedicated fisherman want to cook their fish in a jungle.

In my case, about 5 or 6. I pack 9 to 10 logs into a bundle. Most of the logs are linden, cottonwood, soft maple, or elm. It would usually take 8 to 10 bundles from the local super markets and gas stations to reach 200 lb. They average 5 to 6 logs to the bundle.

Got it filled now. Holds 130 bundles. I have these used billboard 'tarps' that work great for cutting to size. I have vinyl siding for the sides.

I'll be building another shelf off to the right to hold my fuel containers, so that'll take up a few bundles worth.

Fabulous! In my case I could probably get by without the front tarp cover if I mount it on the northeast side of the storage shed. Almost all of our summer storms come in from the west and southwest. I am going to set up something like this for next year because it seems like I am always stocking out of dry bundles. I sold 50 last weekend alone and stocked out. Likely I could have sold 20 more. The campers roar in on the holidays and the park management installed 90 new campfire/cookers.

This is on the lee side of the garage, but I decided to put the flaps on anyway. Also might discourage thieves a bit, but I've had no problems with wood thieves so far.

Needed a space for the fuel cans.

If I build one, it will be on the back of a large storage shed, so it could be more "rustic". Your design looks very good. I need to consider drainage off the roof. This year's El Nino compels me to do this. In my case, a crushed rock layer underneath would help, but the shed is on a hilltop and that should help considerably. The property owner gave me a green light. He heats his house mostly with wood using an efficient stove, and the house is only about 80 yards away from all the split firewood. My logs will save him at least $400 this year on his heating bill.
