You definitely got your specs down. That's is using that truck to its fullest. I'm damn impressed by it. Had those airbags in my Ram (no way it was pulling that load) they work nice. With loads like that you did want to leave that extra leaf in and add the bags?? The extra leaf I guess really stiffened up the ride without a load I'm sure. Like riding a bull lol

That's a 12' trailer, stacked about 5' high, and I'm guessing about 7' wide. That comes to 420 cubic feet or a little more than 3 full cords.

Very close!! its a 14' PJ dump trailer and yes the sides are close to 5' tall and it is either 7' wide or 7.5' wide. not quite sure.

the extra rear leaf road like azz. I had it in there for close to 3yrs and just could not take it anymore. I just borrowed my wife's uncles truck camper with a wet weight of just over 3700lbs. With 90psi in the bags the truck was just off the overloads. I am impressed for sure the amount of weight these things can hold. I am going to purchase a set of these within the next week or so. the wife's uncle has them on his truck "clone of mine". He swears by them!

I've been thinking about putting my trailer at the end of the road with 10 or 12 bundles on the back edge. I have a steel drop safe out of an old gas station. It has a slot in the top and you turn a handle and the money drops down. I was going to bolt it to a fender on the trailer. Since the trailer is a dump, it has a battery for a power source. If I had any bundles stolen I was going to put one of those dash cams facing back. But been too busy with other stuff, Joe.

You might loose the whole trailer that way.

I started another thread in this forum concerning an automated firewood dispenser (vending machine) so I dont want to spam and repost as I recognize some of the names replying here. If you live near State Parks, I would urge you to approach the Park Superintendent and ask if they would like 24 Hr on park vending for firewood. All the states are moving to firewood restrictions to curb the spread of invasive species and tree disease by requiring that firewood be purchased in the local area or heat treated...The National parks are now heat treated with USDA stamp or gather inside the parks only...many states (like Texas) do not allow in park gathering. By being on the park grounds they have better control of incoming wood and you are the sole source for sales. I have contracts directly with the State Park system and contracts with "Friends Groups" of the state parks and give them 10% of the gross (before tax) each month. We get about $1200 a cord this way with total costs (cutting, bags transpo, credit card swipe charges, 10% to the man...of right at $400 a cord).......A wet Memorial day weekend in north Texas but with 8 machines we grossed a little over $1400.

$1200 a cord? Am I reading this right? Please check the last sentence, starting with "We get about..."

Yes we get $11.75 a bag plus tax ( they are 2Cuft bags but you can only stuff about 1.3 ft of wood into the bag....so we are about $1150 a little more

That means you sell for twice the price that I do. I run less than $5 a cu ft, which is less than $500 per bundled cord. Things look to be expensive in Texas, but they always have been.

So are the bags that you are only getting 1.3 CuFt in have a tag on them that says 2 CuFt?

not good Texas BBQ... it's always been a bargain! ;)

No not at all.....they can see the size of the filled bags that are in the machine. The touch screen displays "Large" firewood and "Small" Firewood and they choose. My competition at all the Grocery Stores sells firewood and grill wood in bags that clearly states "2cuft by volume". Our bags are the exact same size as his and using their product, I tested how much you really get. It was almost identical except he cuts his wood at 12" and I cut mine at 18" so his fits sideways so they can get one medium size stick more than I can (.1 cuft or less)....theirs sells for 12.49 and mine for 11.75 and you don't have to leave the park to buy mine.....The key is to be the Park sole source provider 24/7 as the main gate personnel leave at 5pm and a majority of our sales are after hours

Looks like you've got a nice little gig going there! Still can't believe those prices, but if they are willing to pay, then somebody will be willing to accept.

Selling bundled firewood with veggies seems like a great idea to me. I proposed this a few years back to a farmer's market and they thought I was grasping at straws. To me it was a natural extension idea, but I never got any support for it. I may try proposing it again based on what you are showing here. Two thumbs up!

St. Louis south county was all truck farms when I was a kid. I'd bicycle over to a school mates and keep him company while he had to watch the vegetable stand. He was tied to it every day.

Boring but we tinkered mowers and later our cars.

It put him thru collage.
